My sister cleans his room most days, which is unfortunate. The facility seems to be understaffed quite often, and there was some type of layoff last month that resulted in the loss of several great staff members. Outside of those concerns, our experience has been great overall.
Place is clean, bright, inviting. Staff walking around seemed engaged with clients. Apartment size is good, especially in memory care. Had change in management recently so communication has not been as good as in the beginning...mostly due to changes/openings in staff. Overall, very pleased.
It's a friendly community. It's works best for community oriented people. Reserve at First Colony was a good facility. The staff is courageous and caring. Although the facility is relatively small, it was too large for my mother. She became withdrawn and depressed.
Choosing The Reserve at First Colony was an easy decision for us. Four friends had already done the leg work comparing local assisted living and memory care facilities in Sugar Land. All four concluded that The Reserve at First Colony was the best fit for their mothers. Giving up her home in Arizona, her friends and her church was gut-wrenching for Mom. I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Reserve at First Colony, and I can confidently say it's a fantastic place to call home. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the beautiful landscaping and well-maintained grounds that create a welcoming atmosphere. Reserve at First Colony is a good place that feels like home. There have been quite a few changes in the staff. The care all depends on the shift and the lead. It is improving under the new director and there have been a lot of changes in the caregivers.
Our family had an in person tour and it was a great experience, it looked like there was a lot of different things and amenities for the residents to do
We had a good tour experience with The Reserve at First Colony. There was nothing negative about the facility, but nothing really stuck out to us either. It was just not the right fit.
Staff is so caring. My mom loves it there.
